New Research: Greek Youth Smoking Rates Continue to Fall

The latest national survey on youth tobacco use shows a continued decline, with smoking rates among 15-year-olds falling to 8.3% — the lowest recorded level.

The 2025 Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) survey results are out, and they show encouraging progress. Smoking rates among 15-year-olds in Greece have fallen to 8.3%, down from 11.2% in 2022 and 18.4% in 2014. Greece now ranks among the lower quartile of EU countries for adolescent tobacco use.
